Introduction
Hidden away in the peaceful village of Chandor in South Goa, Menezes Bragança House is one of Goa's most remarkable heritage mansions. While Goa is famous for its beaches and vibrant nightlife, this historic residence offers visitors a chance to step back in time and experience the grandeur of Portuguese-era architecture and aristocratic lifestyle.
During my visit, I was amazed by the beautifully preserved interiors, antique furniture, elegant crystal chandeliers, priceless porcelain collections, and lush gardens that surround the mansion. Every room tells a story, making this much more than just a tourist attraction—it is a living piece of Goa's rich history.
About Menezes Bragança House
Menezes Bragança House is located in the historic village of Chandor, about 15 km from Margao. The mansion has been preserved by the Menezes Bragança family for generations and is considered one of the finest examples of Portuguese colonial architecture in Goa.
The house is divided into two wings, each showcasing unique collections of antique furniture, rare books, family portraits, decorative art, and historical artifacts. Walking through its spacious halls feels like entering another century, where elegance and history blend beautifully.

Why I Visited
Whenever I travel, I like exploring places that reveal the culture and history of a destination, not just its famous attractions.
While planning my Goa trip, I came across Menezes Bragança House. The photos looked impressive, but seeing it in person was a completely different experience. From the moment I entered the property, I felt as though I had stepped into a different era.
The peaceful surroundings, elegant architecture, and timeless interiors immediately made this one of the most memorable places I visited in Goa.
My First Impressions
The first thing that caught my attention was the grand entrance and the beautifully maintained colonial architecture. Large windows allowed natural light to fill the rooms, highlighting the polished wooden furniture, decorative pieces, and carefully preserved interiors.
The atmosphere inside was calm and welcoming. Unlike many museums where visitors are rushed through exhibits, this house encourages you to slow down, observe the details, and appreciate the craftsmanship of a bygone era.
